Bass Fishing

buckets instead of tackleboxes

Uploaded on January 25, 2009

when fishing i see a lot of guys carrying their pole, bucket or chair to sit on, and a tackle box with all their fishing gear. instead im making a bucket to use i have a tool belt on the outside to keep line and other important items i might need on the rest of the bucket both inside and out i glued on a few strong magnets to hold lures, weights, or whatever else is metal. right above the tool belt i put bungy cords that i slip my pole through while im actually fishing(if using worms or live bait) so i dont have to hold it. that way i have somewhere to sit, my gear is protected and i dont have to carry my entire tackle box

I could not agree more. All I ever use is 5 gallon buckets. Sit on them, bubble box with lid for baitfish, or cleaning bucket. like the thread says dont forget to use the outside of it. I wrap my old utillity belts around them and put items in the pockets.

I use buckets for ice fishing a lot. They are handy for carrying a lot of stuff.

They are great for catfishing, or when you like to sit in one spot, but for me a good Columbia backpack is my favorite tool.

Try putting on some magnets on the outside for jigs and anything metal.

I mounted a few pvc pipe tubes on the outside of my bucket to act as rod holders when walking ot a spot. I do a lot of bank fishing. I will usually fill the bucket with water and put live bait in it, witht he extra weight I can utilize the pipes as rod holders. I put some clear silicone on the screws to keep the bucket from leaking.

This allows me to keep all of my tackle close so I don't lose any rods.

I also put a clip on the outside to handle a small plano tackle box to carry my hooks, weights, and other tackle.

I agree, the thing I do though, is fill the bucket with 2 inch pvc pipe so I can hang muskie lures in there. cheaper than those boxes too.
