Bass Fishing
what's the record out there least likely to fall? George Perry's 22-pound largemouth?
The 69-pound 11-ounce Muskie?
The 78 pound 8 ounce striped bass?
Is there a fish out there that will never be beat (DiMaggio's hitting streak type thing) or is it just a matter of time before these record books get re-written?
I say the striped bass is least likely to fall, unless the saltwater license regulations help the population grow again. But for now seen people pull baby ones out and not put them back, which is indicative of the greedy nature of some saltwater anglers! Like the charter boat anglers who keep 12 inch flounder. Wish they would catch them in the act.
Maybe it's not a "holy grail" of fishing, but this is one big darned fish: Note the date
Yellow Perch:
World Record: 4 lbs, 3 oz, from Cross Wicks Creek, New Jersey, 1865
With all of the big fish caught recently I think the blue cat and Largemouth bass records will fall within a year or so,
The striper record looks like it could take a while to be broken if ever,
i doubt the musky record will be broken soon because of the intense fishing seen during the mid 1900's. Anglers then didnt practice catch and realse so the Musky population took a hit. give it another ten years of hardcore catch and releas and that record will be achievable.
Nah, it's George Perry and his giant Largemouth. That record was set to be broken years ago according to experts. Unless they grow a giant in Texas and someone catches it this record will stand for a long time. Our fisheries are being assailed from all sides: drought, pollution, usage restrictions and encroachment on and over use of existing water supplies are limiting the growth of giant bass!
The bream record won't ever be beaten
The bream record is a freaking scam anyway. Any dumb@$$ with to much money and time can buy himself some "Georgia Giants," feed 'um like crazy, and then catch one fishing up under the feeder hanging off his dock. I truly believe the bass record will be broken within the next ten years. All it would have taken is for "Dottie" to have actually bitten one of those jigs a couple of years ago and there goes that record. I'm not nearly as knowledgable about the striper and musky records although they both seem highly unlikely to be broken.
