Fishing
Some local streams I visit have slow moving, shallow sections with an abundance of crayfish. To catch them I use a 16 oz. plastic cup. when I see a crayfish I want, I put the cup on the streambed about 5 inches from the tail and spook it by moving my other hand towards it's head. Since it retreats in a rapid backwards swim, it goes straight into the cup, where it is quickly scooped up from the stream and poured into a bucket. I have managed to catch more than a dozen in fifteen minutes with this method.
You can also take a 2 liter pop bottle, cut it apart about a third of the way away from the top, and flip the top so the mouth of the bottle is in the bottom of the bottle. Place some form of stinky bait in the bottom of it, and let it sit in your creek. The crayfish can crawl in, but can not get out.
or just a regular bottle with out any changing....sink in the water...ive caught many like that also with a minnow net.
Sometimes they just swim over it though.
