Fishing
Anyone have a special fishing hat?
Mine is a River Runs Through style felt hat, with a cloth band stuffed full of Elk hair caddis flys, and stimulators.

I have a lucky hat. Its just an old green hat that says I Love Fooball on it.(Yeah I know its kinda pointless to wear fishing) Ive lost it three times and Ive had to swim after it too. It's really nasty. I wouldn't wear it in public due to all the sweat stains and dirt on it. But I can't go fishing without it.
That is the best type of fishing hat. I had an old Stetson felt hat that I lost when I spilled in a pair of waders, it was beat up, had to be re-stitched like 6 times, the hatband fell apart, but it was a great hat, I just wonder where it is right now :?
I've got a North Face gimme ball cap. It has evolved into my fishing hat simply because when I wear it I catch fish, when I don't, nothing bites.
What I want is a hat like Col. Blake had in MASH. I've been looking all over and can't find one anywhere.
I have an Orvis baseball cap, which is strange b/c I'm not a "tweed wearing, bamboo rod toting" type of guy. It's my favorite fishing hat because my daughter (with help from her mom) gave it to me for my first father's day. Will never give that sucker up.
I like always have a Tilley hat on in the summer and then in the winter I like the green wool jeep stocking hat with the little bill on the front.
The best fishing hats have a special meaning to the wearer, it doesn't have to be a felt hat or something.
I have tons of fishing caps that have brought me luck over the years, I love fishing soft plastics for bass, so the one I currently wear is a ZOOM bait cap.
I actually keep all the caps that were worn when I landed a trophy size fish, tack them up in my workshop with the lure I was using that day as a little trophy case of sorts. Adds a little decoration to my workshop and also is a great conversation starter when you are talking about fishing with anyone and everyone.
I have a bunch.... Some have produced more luck for me than others.
I like what dwaynez does, thats a cool way to show off.
I wear a 2" brimmed "breezer" hat form cabelas. I like it well enough but still have yet to put a fish on the wall. Does that make it unlucky?
Mine is just an old beat up red ball cap.
I WEAR WASHINGTON REDSKINS HAT SO IF I DONOT CATCH MANY FISH,I CAN HAVE A LITTLE FUN OUT WITH THE COWBOYS FANS.
My current lucky hat is a Chinese import I got for two bucks in a local dollar store. You can button up the rim on either side 'Aussie' style. I have one in black for the fall and a khaki for the summer. The khaki one is the current lucky one. Why? Because a few months ago I had a forward cast blown into me by the wind and the fly caught on the rim of the hat rather than the back of my head or ear.
i always wear a bass pro shops mesh hat. it seems to work all right
I use a $7 gas-station straw special, with the cruddy band and attendant glue picked off. It's durable, I don't care if it gets ruined, etc. Only prob. is I can't carry anything above my pack without it whacking the brim, hardly. Also keeps sun off well.
I wear my issue Boonie hat. Started wearing it when I was fishing in Iraq and it was lucky from the start. Wish I had it with me now.
I got a st. croix baseball hat. Its always been my lucky hat.
I have tons of fishing caps, most are ball caps that are well worn and each one has a story attached to it. Currently I am wearing a zoom hat, but before that I had an ugly stik hat, I wear them fishing until they are falling apart.
I don't wear a hat when I fish. The sun is always in my eyes though so I probably should.
mine is my trusty ol zoom hat i bought at walmart for 5 or 6 dollars.
I always wear my camo Matthews Solocam hat. It has my lucky Deutsch pin from Germany on it. I wouldn't fish with out it...especially since it also is the keeper of my license
i have 2 favorite fishing hats. one is a cabelas and the other is a rapala from walmart. like some others metioned they are dirty and smell and have been dropped in the lake a few times but i love and can't go fishing without wearing one of them. it just doesn't feel right.
My lucky hat is a green BUD w/ the B & crown logo.I've had it for 3 yrs. & every time i've worn it somebody catches a good size bass. this past APRIL,my cousin & i both caught c-class smallmouths on that float trip.
It smells & neeeds washed but i'm not takin a chance.
Orvis full brim mesh sides.
my favorite (and I tend to think lucky) hat is my old army boonie hat. It has a brim all the way around and a nice chin strap so I never lose it. Plus it already had some memories before I started using it for fishing.
You can see it here in my profile pic!
i wear a mossy oak break up winchester hat for every thing , trapping, hunting , fishing. im wearing it in my pic
You definetly need a wide brim. I like ones that are light weight & crushable, Like a boonie, camo of course!
i always wear my $3.50 tractor supply hat. it is so beat up that the white mesh is pretty much dirt colored, but it always brings me luck.
I stick with caps from SurfFishing Specialties.com. Besides bringing me luck, they seem to get more comfortable and look pretty good too.
I three.... switch between the one that "feels lucky!"
two are baseball style and the other is a wide brim...

i always wear my $3 bass pro shop mesh hat with the hook on it.
I have an old snap on tools hat and a bass pro shops bobby bowden straw hat love them both as far as luck goes luck skipped me
Khaki boonie hat or beat up old West Virginia baseball hat.
My lucky hat is a Cabelas Gore tex base ball cap.
Nothing special for me. Just a few baseball caps that I like.
If you look at thrift stores you can find a bunch of hats for just a buck or two each
I agree with 'surfcaster'...original 'Fenwick Island Fishing Cap' and 'Assateague Island Fishing Cap' are my two favorites..between surf fishing and golfing..always wearing one or the other
