Fishing hats...

Anyone have a special fishing hat?

Mine is a River Runs Through style felt hat, with a cloth band stuffed full of Elk hair caddis flys, and stimulators.

I have a lucky hat. Its just an old green hat that says I Love Fooball on it.(Yeah I know its kinda pointless to wear fishing) Ive lost it three times and Ive had to swim after it too. It's really nasty. I wouldn't wear it in public due to all the sweat stains and dirt on it. But I can't go fishing without it.

That is the best type of fishing hat. I had an old Stetson felt hat that I lost when I spilled in a pair of waders, it was beat up, had to be re-stitched like 6 times, the hatband fell apart, but it was a great hat, I just wonder where it is right now :?

I've got a North Face gimme ball cap. It has evolved into my fishing hat simply because when I wear it I catch fish, when I don't, nothing bites.
What I want is a hat like Col. Blake had in MASH. I've been looking all over and can't find one anywhere.

I have an Orvis baseball cap, which is strange b/c I'm not a "tweed wearing, bamboo rod toting" type of guy. It's my favorite fishing hat because my daughter (with help from her mom) gave it to me for my first father's day. Will never give that sucker up.

The best fishing hats have a special meaning to the wearer, it doesn't have to be a felt hat or something.

I have tons of fishing caps that have brought me luck over the years, I love fishing soft plastics for bass, so the one I currently wear is a ZOOM bait cap.

I actually keep all the caps that were worn when I landed a trophy size fish, tack them up in my workshop with the lure I was using that day as a little trophy case of sorts. Adds a little decoration to my workshop and also is a great conversation starter when you are talking about fishing with anyone and everyone.

I wear a 2" brimmed "breezer" hat form cabelas. I like it well enough but still have yet to put a fish on the wall. Does that make it unlucky?

My current lucky hat is a Chinese import I got for two bucks in a local dollar store. You can button up the rim on either side 'Aussie' style. I have one in black for the fall and a khaki for the summer. The khaki one is the current lucky one. Why? Because a few months ago I had a forward cast blown into me by the wind and the fly caught on the rim of the hat rather than the back of my head or ear.

I use a $7 gas-station straw special, with the cruddy band and attendant glue picked off. It's durable, I don't care if it gets ruined, etc. Only prob. is I can't carry anything above my pack without it whacking the brim, hardly. Also keeps sun off well.

I have tons of fishing caps, most are ball caps that are well worn and each one has a story attached to it. Currently I am wearing a zoom hat, but before that I had an ugly stik hat, I wear them fishing until they are falling apart.

my favorite (and I tend to think lucky) hat is my old army boonie hat. It has a brim all the way around and a nice chin strap so I never lose it. Plus it already had some memories before I started using it for fishing.
