I like spooling my spinning reels with Red Cajun because it is the limpest and most memory resistant mono that I have used. It really resists tangles. I then use fluorocarbon leaders.
My baitcasters get Berkley XL Smooth Casting.
For fluorocarbon, I like Berkley Vanish.
Cabelas brand is my favorite for lead- core.
Trolling rods that don't have lead- core, get Red Cajun mono.
I use offshore angler brand from basspro for most of my catfishing reels, it holds up well and it does not fray in heavy cover.
As mentioned by charley the red cajun line goes on most of my largemouth and white-bass setups.
For ultralight setups for panfish and crappie, I prefer stren or trilene 4lb line.
For Striper/Blue Fish? Powerpro braided, 20lb test (6lb test diameter), tie to a barrel swivel, 50lb Seagar Fluorocarbon leader. Awesome for off shore boat or surf casting.
Salmon fishing in the Salmon River Pulaski NY, Stren XL 17 lb test, low vis green, tied by a Six-turn Yucatan knot to a 6-8 lb (if the water is over 750 cfs go to 12 lb) Seagar Fluorcarbon leader.
Lg Mouth Bass, Powerpro braided 12lb (2-4lb diameter) barrel swivel to 6 lb Seagar Fluorocarbon leader...
Basic guide line I follow
I use 20 pound triline mono for surf stipers
TheEasterShore, consider moving to a braided line, it has no stretch whatsoever which allows an instant setting of the hook, also with a 20 lb braid the diameter is like 6-8lb test, which will allow you to a much farther cast.
Power pro for cats, salmon, and 'ski
four pound Yo zuri hybrid for gills, steelies (or 6) and crapppie.
P-line
14 pound triline for bass fishin but stren for smaller fish.
