Emergency snake foot fly rod repair in the field.

Uploaded on January 15, 2009

When the wraps of your guides come undone in the field, use a couple pieces of shrink tubing to hold the guides on until you can get them back to be repaired. The tubing is cheap, shrinks to 1/3 of it's original size, and can only be removed by cutting it off. I carry several different sizes and colors in my tackle bag for various repairs, the shrink tubing can also be used as lure material or rod blank repair on a cracked rod in an emergency.

Or if you cant find shrink tube, use small zip ties you can get them at almost all hardware stores, and you just need the smallest size you can find and you only need that one size. Or a simple wrap of mono fishing line will do the job too.
