Fly Fishing
For me, and I think for a lot of folks, there is a natural and close connection between fly fishing and music. Whether it’s the recorded music played in the truck on the way to the stream or the live music in the bar after a long, great day on the river, music accompanies much — not all — of the fly fishing experience. There is, of course, time in the river, when the only music comes from the water rushing over the rocks and the wind in the trees.
Thes site -- www.reelgrea.se -- is about the songs that—I think—are best suited to “before” and “after” parts. It goes way beyond old The Who and Zeppelin CDs (though we do appreciate those too). These are songs that could be, should be, and are being, heard live in the bars and saloons of the great fly fishing towns across America today—places like Missoula, Redding, Bend, Mountain Home, West Yellowstone, Jackson, and Truckee.
These songs exist at the intersections of blues music, rock & roll, country, alt. country, folk, gospel, bluegrass, and Americana.
These are great songs . . . Come check 'em out.
Great post! There is no doubt that music is intrinsically tied into fly fishing and the areas that surround your favorite rivers. Even "The Movie" would not have been the same without James Horner's score behind the scenes. Give the Avett Brothers a try in the cd player next time you head to your honey-hole.

Thanks, Sam!
"Intrinsically tied," yes. Well said. Thanks for the suggestion of the Avett Brothers too!

Just don't be out on the water frantically kicking around in a float tube with ear phones on acting like a jive turkey...disturbs the fish, and throws me off my game! :)
Jive turkey! That's funny! 70's flashback...or Barbara Billingsley in "Airplane". "I speak jive..."
I'm much more of a modern rock guy. If it is older than 15 years I'm probably bored with it. For the rest of you, go ahead and hang on the past you old fogies lol.

That is hilarious!
reelgrease...I'm one of those jive turkeys. I'm an old rock'n roller, and my fishin buddies hate to see me get in my pontoon boat, and put on my headphones. I've had a good fish on only to have Jerry Lee Lewis suddenly start bangin on the ivories.
Sayfu, if you've got Jerry Lee Lewis on while you're fishing, the fish probably just jump into the net. We might have to start callin' you "The Killer"!
