Fly Fishing
Has anyone else fished with Tenkara Rods and if you did what is your opinion.
Over the last three months I have fished Tenkara Rods in the mountains of West Virginia and the Sierras catching bows, browns, brookies and golden trout.
I feel for small streams there is no better rod or method of fishing than Tenkara and it has the opportunity to cause a small revolution in the fly fishing industry.
I've been a fly fisherman for 30 years and am very skeptical of fads and gimmicks that come and go but I just can't get past how well these rods present the fly to tight spots on small waters.
I also have two sons that are 14 and 21 years old that have been reluctant to pick up fly fishing but are addicted to Tenkara fishing.
i will have to look into this for the small streams i love to fish in northern PA.
I've been using one since May '09, and having fun this summer playing with both the Tenkara and hookless flies with the local bass and sunfish in the local pond nearby. Makes long range catch and release more fun especially when they grab on and fight until they are about to get within hand distance, then they let go and fall back in the water.
Neat, I've never heard of Tenkara fishing before. Looks like I'll have to do a bit of researching.
