how to make an anchor cheap

Uploaded on February 10, 2010

If you don't have the money to buy a nice anchor, why not just make on your own for cheap? Take an old hammer with a wood handle and drill a hole through it. After that, tie off your rope to the handle of the hammer and now you don't have to worry about buying an expensive anchor.

Time and tide evidently someone doesn't fish where there is tide or current, and i'd like to know how big that hammer is.I have three anchors on my boat two sand anchors large and a ten pound mushroom for still water. If i,m fishing the ship channel for reds ihave to anchor the front of the boat first and use the outboard to position the boat to set the back anchor to hold the rear in position.and still have slippage.

Darwinism, marine division. As a former Coastguardsman I really resent those that would venture out on the water without even the most basic equipment and boating knowledge. You can't get much more basic than an anchor. Here is a free lesson from an ASA Certified Sailing Instructor. Do not ever leave shore with a rope tied to an hammer to use as an anchor.
