New to river fishing

Uploaded on March 18, 2013

I'm from minnesota and pretty much my whole life have taken the boat out on the lake to fish or fished from shore. i recently moved and the red river in North Dakota is where i hope to be fishing this spring and was wondering if there is any advice out there on fishing rivers versus lakes. Specifically i want to get on some river cats and have never fished for cats on the river. Any help would be awesome!

When you cast the current is going to mess with your line. Your line will hit snags and rocks and all sorts of fun things. Hang on to your rod with your tip up to prevent your line tangling around and under things. Eventually your bait will come to a rest. Reel up any slack line you might have and wait.

if you would be interested and it is legal there, you could use brush lines.
