You can easily make a hood to fit over spinning reel spools to protect them from nicks and dents that will effect performence. Take the top off almost any laundry soap container trim it to length and hot glue a strip of foam or soft sponge to the inside Once done it will fit snuggly over the spool and protect it while stored in home or car trunk.
