Fishing Port Aransas

Uploaded on February 25, 2010

I am going down to Port Aransas, TX for spring break with my friends and I was hoping to do some fishing while I was down there. However I haven't ever done any saltwater fishing but I was hoping to learn a little about surf fishing and fly fishing for some reds. Anyone have any suggestions for fishing locations, rig set ups, fishing methods, etc.?
Thanks.

My favorite inshore areas are north west of the lighthouse and west down the ship channel to east flats or ransom and dagger island. Just west of the ferry landing on Port A, is a good wading shore. Headingout of town toward Corpus Christi is a launching ranmp that launches into the cuts behind east flats and around 15 miles down is fish pass, it filled with sand but where it used to empty into the bay is a good wade fishing area. 40 miles south to Padre island State park is a launching ramp as well as great wading areas in Laquna Madre. Lots of great fishing in Port A ( my old stomping grounds), the jetties There are 5 from Port A to Padre Island. You might book trip on the warfcat or scat kat at Fishermans Warf or some of the other cheaper charter boats, there is three decently priced Charters IN Port A. Always take some super spooks and dop togs in bone and speckled trout, silver and gold spoons, mirrolures and soft plastic on a jig head. I like top water with the super spooks at daybreak or at night with any top water. ya just might see me fishing these spots. Good luck,
