Race Point bluefish blitz

Uploaded on January 06, 2009

you can see the bait trying to get out of the water! Anyone ever found themselves in a blitz like this? When bluefish will hit a pair of fingernail clippers and fight for 20 minutes before letting go? when there's nothing you can do to get a plug back to you without having it crushed? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIiDimtMROc&feature=related

Yes i have been in a number of blitzes like that. We had fishing like that for a couple days in RI in Naraganset Bay, and I have fished a ton of those blitzes off of Boston MA and north of there. Yes the fish will hit a pair of fingernail clippers for sure. About fighting for 20 minutes....probably not. I have had my line bitten through more than ten times if you cast too far into the fish. This is with a 24 inch wire leader. In this situation its best to put on lures you want to lose, because they really will hit anything put in the water. Its a lot of fun. And if your lures do make it back into the tacklebox at the end of the day, they will have the scars to prove they were there.
