I fly fish for trout.... It's really good all winter long here. I tie flies also. We did have a cold snap where it got down around zero here for a week or so, and I didn't fish in that. But it's back to 40 degree highs, and I'm going fishing tomorrow for the first time in a couple weeks.

To 007 The rivers are all extremely high, muddy and full of trash. Going to be awhile till we can trout fish again. The way it looks and the weather reports we are going to have severe flooding for the next few days. This should scatter the trout that have already been stocked and the ones that they stock while the water is high.

Rexrode,
What part of WV do you live? I fish a lot in Tucker and Randolph Counties and on occasion near Richwood.

Buckhunter,
I live in Petersburg in Grant County. Right now they still have 4 to 5 feet of snow in the mountains of Tucker and Randolph counties. It is raining here in the eastern panhandle this morning and the weatherman says we are under a flood warning. The South Branch of the Potomac which flows near my house is pretty full this morning and it won't take much to put it out of its banks. It is going to be a while till there is any fishing over this way. Where do you live?

You will have to venture over the mountains from Elkins to fish the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac from Seneca Rocks to Petersburg. It is a stretch of about 20 miles that they stock, and also the South Branch in the Smoke Holes You have probbly heard of the Smoke Holes. It is nice fishing there

You only have to cross 1 more mountain from Harman to get to the South Branch Valley where there is some good trout fishing. It is only about 11 miles from Harman to the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac.

I fish about 200 days a year as I am retired. I fish in a heated fishhouse in the winter. On the days that I don't fish in the winter, I use the wii and fish for bass.

One can go to the library, read at home, be on the Internet, take a 2-mile walk every day, volunteer in the food shelf like I do, visit shut-ins at the nursing home, etc.
