Who else trolls for Crappie?

Uploaded on March 27, 2012

I've had some great luck the last couple years trolling small Rapala's for Crappie. I'm curious how many others do this as well.

I troll in my 12' tinny with a small Minn Kota and it's a real blast. I know I should be able to anchor over a school but trolling produces more fish.

What do you guys catch Crappie with?

I usually Crappie fish in my parents pond in North Georgia. I do not troll because it is just too small, but I use beetle spins, small tubes, and small crank baits. I choose a bright color because the water is dark. I know this is probably the polar opposite of how you fish but I thought I would share.

I have seen some people troll with crappie minnows. It is suppose to work like a charm. Just a light wire hook tied to the line with little or no weight. Have never done it myself but seen it done a few times and it works.

We troll for perch, we will drop a worm harness with green willow blades preferably, with a bottom bouncer sinker at about 14ft, not mmuch of a crappie guy

We troll every now and then for crappie where I'm from in MN. We always use something that wont dive any deeper than 2 feet max and move pretty slow because Crappie like to attack in an upward fashion.

Slow rowing is trolling....find them, and then anchor up. Crappie are school fish.
