Next time you go camping, bring along a bag of your pencil shavings. They hold a nice flame and easily light with a match.

You are going to have to pack alot of them. But overall they are light weight.

Dryer lint is lighter , soak it a bit with parafin, and is a very good fire starter, burnas long and will light when ground is wet if coated with parrafin.

Good luck and use your head out there

How about a cotton ball with pretrolium jelly, wrapped in wax paper? I have tried that and it holds a nice flame and keep lit for a long enough time.

Dry pine cones also work well for fire starting if you find them.

I've found that collecting pitch from an oozing pine and keeping it in a pill RX bottle to be helpful for a fire starter. I keep the bottle in my hunting pack and use it as needed.

Another idea is to use old pieces of shingles. They catch fire fast and they produce a hot fire!
