Emergency Camping Lantern Using Mountain Dew

Uploaded on May 29, 2009

1.Poor out the Mountain Dew and leave about 1/4" of dew in the bottle.
2.Add a tiny bit of baking soda.
3.Than add 3 caps of peroxide
4.Shake well and now you have instant light.

I've long though my kids could see in the dark after consuming the "bedtime snack" of Mountian Dew and Skittles, now the chemistry comes out!

I really need to try this.

I tried this and it did'nt work. I followed the instructions.
Is the pop susposed to be hot?

It's a fake, it was a video on the internet and was proved not to work.

since that doesnt work you can allways put a candle in a pop can and cut some holes for light.

Or you could buy a small MAG light and pack it next time.

yeah realy i dont think i will have a bottle of mountain dew, baking soda, and peroxide on hand when i need a light. heres another tip pack a flashlight :)

I have a flashlight that runs of stored solar energy and has a battery back up just in case. it comes with a lanyard and I hang it from my backpack bungeed so the solar cells stay exposed always insuring a full charge.

Had a Mini-Mag light for years, also have a 6 D Cell that can be seen pf miles to signal with!!

They both go with be into the woods with a "Duty Belt" that also has my 1911A1 with 3 10 Round mags.
