Deer Targets as Decoys??

Uploaded on September 14, 2011

Has anyone ever used their deer targets as a decoy out in the field? Supposedly using a decoy buck over a bedded doe during the peak of the rut will bring the big boys out. Anyone have any tips on this and if their targets can be used as decoys as well, or should decoys only be used since they wont be all "shot up".

I use a 3D buck deer as my target in camp while hunting. I always come back to camp and shoot a few arrows through my bow to make sure everything is still right on. I have come back and my 3D deer target head will be off. The wind couldn't have done that. I have also had deer come right into camp, which I attribute to the 3D target.

I believe a deer target will work as well as a decoy though it's more cumbersome. At my dad's place our target would frequently be attacked, knocked over, head knocked off, etc....Should've put a trail cam on it. Search it on youtube and you'll see targetsbeing used as decoys.
