Keeping your hands clean

Uploaded on February 18, 2009

The rubber nitrile examination gloves your Dr. uses are great in the woods and at home. I keep them in my pack and put on a new pair to field dress game. They are great for cleaning fish, birds and other critters too. One small pouch will hold several pair. After you are done peel them off and all the blood, slime, poop etc on your hands come off with them. The gloves turn inside out as they come off. Just pocket them for trash. These gloves are thin enough I can open a pocket knife while wearing them. Imagine field dressing a Buck and peeling off the blood and goop that usually dries under your nails. My Dentist gave me a whole box full. You can also buy them on line for about 5 bucks a box.

Back in the '70s we were warned to wear them while cleaning rabbits. There was some disease going around one year affecting them.

I use grass to clean my hands if water isn't available. Doesn't do much for under the nails though.

I also keep a couple pair in my pack. Espeasially if the animal you shot has a desiease those latex gloves keep you safe from touching the animal.

Me and my dad use these and we just carry five or six pairs at a time in our box. We also have them in differnet sizes so others can use them.

These gloves are excellent .I also suggest that you should
keep bottle of hand sanitizer in your car / grub box etc. so you can clean your hands anytime. As most have an alcohol content they likely can be used as a disenfectent in a pinch.
