Realtree AP-HD has worked great for me hunting off the ground and in trees. I think it looks like less of a blob at a distance than Mossy Oak.
The deer will never know the difference. Buy whatever's on sale.
i think both are good
i like realtree, especially for turkey hunting, realtree looks really good in the spring woods.
Probably more important for deer hunting is camouflaging your odor - there are a number of great products out there for that purpose. Of course, this is not important for turkey hunting as they have a very poor sense of smell.
For the visual camo pattern, it makes a great difference what your background will be. For instance, there are some relatively new brush patterns that are great for ground hunting in brushy situations. For tree stands and tree saddles especially late season, vertigo pattern is great - it has larger branches with a background that matches the sky behind you. Another great late season pattern is Tree Stand - it is mostly shades of gray branches and has a nice November feel to it. Some of the new High Definition patterns take camouflage to new levels - making the pictures of leaves and branches appear 3 dimensional. To make a long answer short - the camo pattern probably should change with the advance of fall - from lots of leavesin the pattern in the early season to more branches and sky in the late season. All that being said, I do have more RealTree Camo than Mossy Oak and I like what I have...
I own lots of both, cant say it really makes a differance when it comes to compairing camo patterens both have served me well while deer hunting ,However My Real Tree camo is still in very good condition vs my mossy oak as far as durability out in the woods mossy oak seems to rip alot easier than any of my real tree stuff.
I try not to buy Realtree due to the hokey TV shows they sponsor, Michael Waddell in particular. Get what you want. Movement, noise, and odor are more important than pattern. Most folks I see are wearing patterns way too dark that do not blend in at a distance but become a dark blob at a distance. As someone noted on here, many of the hunting shows feature a camo clad hunter and a guide with jeans and a Carhartt jacket and a non-camo hat. Go figure? I prefer Cabela's Outfitter for general use and Mossy Oak Duck Blind fopr waterfowl and hunting in brush country. But don't mind me because I'm such a fashion plate.
Ther both good, but they work even better together, so all you look like is a blob of brush. Think Im crazy? well, I have had deer come withen 5yds. of me, stare right at me, and leave, just because somthing wasent quit right. Not, because there was a human 15 feet away. (witch there was, but you get the picture)
I only have Mossy Oak mostly because that's what's more available in my area me. Could also be because it's cheaper.
