Wood Duck Agony

Uploaded on November 06, 2012

So I have been hunting my uncles marsh since I could walk it. I have mostly limited out on mallards and widgeon but the Wood Ducks are in the thousands and teal are in thousands(early season for teal). I have tried everything in the book to get these wood ducks to toll to my decoys yet they always flare. I have looked at my spread multiple times and have tried 2 or 3 wood duck calls they just dont like me! I need help because as you true fowl hunters know wood ducks are might pretty on a mount. Comments would be thanked.

I can't help you. Never had trouble getting shots at them if I wanted. They are typically not feathered out very well in the early season. Wait a month or two if you want one for a mount.

try tossing 2-4 Coot dekes near your spread, couldn't hurt.
Woodies down here in Ark fly early and fly fast - get out early and keep your gun up

are you using wood duck decoys or mallards. I usually set out a half dozen mallards in pairs. Spread them out. If that doesn't work try the wood duck decoys with the woodie mojo decoy. If all else fails, pull all the decoys and set up were they come in.
