2nd Amendment
A thought for the times...

I found this quote. Any guess as to who said it?
.... A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolved, and the people recovering their true sight, restoring their government to its true principles. It is true, that in the meantime, we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war, and long oppressions of enormous public debt. .... If the game runs sometimes against us at home, we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost. For this is a game where principles are the stake.
I'll give you a hint. He was commenting on the loss of liberty, denial of civil rights, the turning the country over to special interests, bribery, and corruption..many of the same issues we are seeing today...and looking at the result, maybe we aren't destined, as a country, to the dust heap of history...we overcame these issues before in our history. As a people, we don't have to surrender to those who would wreck us to enrich themselves and increase their personal wealth and power. We don't have to give up the American dream and become slaves to corporate America and big government. We don't have to give up our liberty.
As we enter this weekend, maybe we should remember why the thousands of men and women fought and died for our country. It wasn't to make the rich richer, the government more powerful and intrusive, the special interests more influential, the average person more a slave and less of a participant in the democratic process.
Maybe this is a good weekend to re-read the writings of the founding fathers and think about those who died to uphold them.
Agree or is agree with me, at least take time to honor our veterans and remember those who gave their last full measure of devotion.
It was Thomas Jefferson.
