Last weekend we were entered in the Western New York State Predator Hunt hosted by the Bark At The Moon Coyote Club out of Rochester, NY. Unfortunately, we didn’t make our minimum of at least 4 coyotes to make the drive out but we weren’t totally skunked. We were able to bag two dogs one of which on video. The weekend was absolutely frigid with wind chill factors being in the negative double digits…enjoy!
I'm not sure I'd be real proud of shooting a dog. Or a cat or a goldfish. I know, they can be a problem and need to be eliminated in some situations. But I wouldn't take a video of it. Especially not for public viewing. Hunters are having a hard enough time with adverse public opinion without having to deal with this, especially when it could be avoided.
I think there may be a misunderstanding here - when kvlazer22 is talking about dogs - he's talking about coyotes.
Good shot kv.
OHH
Coyotes are a real problem in many states, esp the ones whom do not have wolf/bobcat or larger predators to take out the coyotes.
Shooting video of a hunt is still just that, a hunting video.
It may not be for you, but I really do enjoy it, the "hunter rush" is just as exciting trying to hunt one as I would compare it to hunting whitetails, esp. when you call one in! sometimes you call in a pack of two or more and boy oh boy does it get the blood pumping. I even hunt them in the suburbs with a bow, it is hard, very hard...these "dogs" are a worthy adversary to contend with, esp. here in lower MICH.
GREAT video!
Thumbs up for hunting coyotes. I certainly don't have a problem with that. Shot one once myself. But a coyote is not what most of us call a dog. Domesticated pets come to mind immediately. I know, it doesn't make sense. Just about everybody I know here will often refer to lynx as "cats". But I have never heard anyone call a wolf a dog. I'll check out the video.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Matt, I've never heard of lynx or bobcat preying on coyotes. Looks to me like it would be an even fight. They might have better luck with foxes. Wolves, on the other hand, will munch down on any coyote they can find.
ohh, did ya see the link of coyotes in MI? open seanson by law enforcement! we just got blanketed with snow, Im heading out they have got to be on the move soon.
I did not say lynx/bobcat as taker outers of thining the heard, it is just competition..
our wolf population is growing, as well as our yotes, even in the suburbs of not so rich neighbor hoods.
take care freind...
That also looks like a nice outfit for blending into that specific terrain.
