What's It Worth?
Budget? We don't need no stinkin' budget!

This is exactly why people are frustrated with Washington politicians. Americans have to work within a budget. When they don't, things go crazy. It works like that in Washington too, except our elected officials are quite happy letting things go crazy rather than following a budget. Just look at Democrat Steny Hoyer. At a briefing with reporters regarding the fact that it's been 1,000 days since Congress passed a budget, Hoyer said, "The fact is, you don't need a budget." And these guys wonder why Congressional approval is in the toilet?
Hoyer said: "What does the budget do? The budget does one thing and really only one thing: It sets the parameters of spending and discretionary caps. Other than that, the Appropriations committee are not bound by the Budget committee's priorities."
He continued: "The fact is, you don't need a budget. We can adopt appropriations bills. We can adopt authorization policies without a budget. We already have an agreed-upon cap on spending."
As noted in the report by CNSNews.com, "the last time the Senate passed a budget was on Apr. 29, 2009."
The federal government has since been operating on funds approved through a series of continuing resolutions (CR), raises in the debt ceiling, and several appropriations bills. The last CR was passed in mid-December 2011, by both the House and Senate, and signed by President Barack Obama.
That $915-billion deal, along with several appropriations measures, will keep the federal government operating though the end of fiscal year 2012, on Sept. 30.
CNSNews.com also noted that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid also spoke about not needing a budget, saying, "We do not need to bring a budget to the floor this year. It's done, we don't need to do it."
Is this insanity or what? Hoyer talks about an "agreed-upon cap on spending" as if that is a substitute for a budget. Does that "agreed-upon cap" do anything? NO! All these people do in Washington is vote to make it higher. There is no budget, and there is no spending cap.
Sen. Jeff Sessions issued a statement on Friday when Reid announced that "for the third year in a row, he would not bring a budget plan up for public debate and amendment on the Senate floor."
nation's fiscal future and the difficult choices we face. He obviously continues in his belief that it would be politically foolish for his members to go on record in support of any long-term vision. But by refusing to lay out a budget plan for public examination--a fact no one can deny--the Democrat Senate has forfeited the high privilege to lead this chamber.
It's been 1,000 days since our leaders in Washington have passed a budget. 1,000 days! Isn't it time to get some new people in there? These guys may understand how Washington works, but they sure don't know anything about how an average American family works. Get a clue!
The lack of a budget allows Dems to rage against the evil Reps for daring to cut spending. The Dems are for everything for everybody in any amount. All spending, all the time, for every special little thang. Conservation, you bet!! The environment, you bet!!! The Rs are bad, but we're good. Not having to make a decision or write down priorities is a wonderfull plan. The less inteligent amoung the public even think that they aren't being manipulated by the politicians they support. Who knew the media would allow one party to shirk its duty and bamboozle the public in that manner???
Lab,
Would the spending you mention include Congress' approval to borrow the funds spent on 2 wars?
The borrowed funds for 2 temporary tax cuts too?
The borrowed funds for Medicare part D?
I know I know, the GOP is as pure as the driven snow.
Hey Jere, maybe you could flood this forum with some more copied and pasted opinions written by somebody else.
Pure as the driven-over slush! LOL
Hoski buzz off.
Hoski's drivel never makes a point,he has no opinions except Rats!
I'm sorry J. Smith.
You need to realize that Homaski's only point in being on this "web-site", is to re-educate Conservatives to be raging Liberals and to, as he so eloquently stated, "...stir the pot, so to speak!...". He also feels that his argumentative nature is designed to lend a bit of "truth"(?) to this site!
Basically, there is no validity to Homaski, only a deeply hidden desire to shed his, mortal, hard line Liberal, Democratic, "union" coils and be more Conservative. LOL!!!!!
Note that his reply is NOT directed toward the fact that the Democrats have not, nor do they WANT to pass a budget. With a budget in place, the outlandish spending can be accounted for and the American public can see where the dollars are going. We all know that Obabble best rhetoric could NEVER explain his out of control spending! I'd lay a dollar to a rolling donut hole ol' Homaski, living on a retirement, has a budget!
Pelosi said it best: "We've got to pass this bill so we can see what's in it!" I can't believe fellow Dems would allow their House Speaker to make such a statement with NO retribution!!
Bubba
Sorry Jere, as I said on the other thread...no can do.
At times I rather enjoy debunking the incorrect info, conspiracy theories, and outright lies that regularly appear here.
BTW, any more subjects from your crazy cousin you'd care to spam up the website with?
So why do the Dems refuse to bring up a budget??? I was no fan of Bush's overspending but at least he complied with the system in place. If the Senate Dems refuse to do their duty why is it not a reasonable request to ask about their motive for failing to inform us of their intentions? Why is it not a individuals right to question their budgetary priorities?? I have no problem being against a Republican budget priority, what right do the Dems have to run a stealth spending regime that allows them to be for everything all the time and to harp on and on about others attempts to reign in spending on specific issues???
They all make up a budget labrador. The Republican senate would even maybe reach common ground but the House is just not going to do anything. Even if Boener were able to maybe line up the votes when it came time for a vote he couldn't deliver. If he came up with a budget that some members from both parties could get behind the tea party would toss out his job as speaker.
Also Labrador,,, it's best not to respond to Jere's cut and pastes, he spams with no new content of his own or any thoughts of his own, only a bunch of conspiracy lies he drums up from some back alley of the internet.
And you never say any thing worthwhile except to Praise the idiot in the WH! Rat, I fail to see how anyone can believe the crap you continually post. I don't have the time or energy to rewrite or "Add to" something that is well written by a reputable reporter not some one who studied at Patrice Lumumba University in the Congo. Google him.
And maybe you will stop hiding behind Rodents someday?
Doesn't have the time or energy...that's rich.
I'd say you're short on time because you spend so much of it reading, copying, and then rushing here to paste conspiracy theories and drivel written by "reputable" sources because you're incapable of original thought of your own, kind of creates it's own vicious cycle.
