What's It Worth?

NFL Playoffs

Uploaded on January 18, 2012

I don't know if any of you guys are into football or not but I was wondering if you were what you think about the remaining teams and who you're rooting for. I was upset at the Bronco's lose to the Patriots but was excited when the NY Giants upset the Packers and came back to prove their worth. It was a great game and Eli proved himself. I can't wait to see the results when we play San Francisco. GO GIANTS!

I was a three spors guy in college, and a professional sports, couch potato now. Do not count out the 49'ers for sure. I thought Drew Breese and NO were the best team, and favorite to win the Super Bowl. I don't see anyone beating the 49'ers given they play like they did vs. N.O. Given that I see the only team without a chance as Baltimore...poor offense, and will eliminate them.

I thought that Baltimore has been pretty good this year, they and the 49'ers, I still have to pull for my Giants though. The San Francisco game should be a good one.

Now, I gotta watch those Giants, man they played complete football.

I think it will be New England and New York in the Super Bowl with New England taking it all.

I gotta argue with you there Sarge, Giants took the win against New England in 2008, they are the best at last minute 4th quarter wins

Hometown boys, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Also like the Sooners in college hoops, but that isn't so hot these days.

What happened to my post? I think that Okla. St. beat the Sooners their last meeting, but no biggie. I like that NCAA March madness time. The little guy upsetting a biggie. No homecourt advantages, and no Dickie Vitale ruining a good game!!! I do like the Thunder even though they stole my Seattle Sonics!

The NFC title game is the more compelling by far, IMO. San Fran's defense v. NY's O. Akers scores the majority of SF points, not a real high powered offense, but not a bunch of scrubs. Davis is one the best pass-catching TEs in the league, and Gore is a workhorse. Eli has lotsa weapons at his disposal, Bradshaw, Jacobs, two stud receivers in Nicks and Cruz, and the TE Ballard gets in on the action too. Of course, NY's D ain't no punks either. The real fun part will be when the cameras are on Harbaugh and Coughlin's faces, and watching their expressions! Was rooting for the Pack, but you can't fumble four times and drop eight passes, some of them potential third down conversions. It's a problem that plagued them during the regular season too, but they managed to pull it out 15 times. Hoopswise, the OKC Thunder are the best young team in the league and fun to watch. They ought to go far if Westbrook remembers that Durantula is THE MAN on the team. Payin' close attention to the Clips too.

Here is something..just a point about what you mentioned. I don't buy this accepted notion that if a reciever can touch the ball...if it is on his finger tips, he should catch it, and if he doesn't it qualifies as a drop...totally a false assumption, and position. A hard thrown pass that zips off the finger tips shouldn't qualify as a drop. Passes thrown hard behind a guy that would be a great catch, but goes incomplete should not be regarded as a drop, nor a pass that is broken up before the guy can bring the ball in. Come on! They play back the pass, the receiver stretches out, and the defender gets an arm in there, and knocks it out...not a drop! Same thing goes with the call of a runner..."Putting the ball on the ground!" No he didn't. One of those massive defensive dudes with the gorilla arms, karate chopped the ball out of there! Those defensive guys are experts at causing a fumble. I just interpret what I see, as a football play, not a guy that "put the ball on the ground" Anyway...I say the 49'er defense is going to be better than NY defense, adn that will be the difference...49'ers win.

I'm not talkin' about incomplete passes as it were, or passes broken up by defenders. I mean dropped balls. A dropped pass is statistically different than an incomplete pass, insofar as the teams themselves break it down. Some of those drops were by wide open receivers, like the drop by, if I remember right, Jordy Nelson on GB's last, or next to last possesion. There was nobody within ten yards of him. Rodgers probably could've taken a little off the pass since he was so open, but WRs get paid to catch the ball. And have you ever seen the gloves WRs and RBs wear today, with the tacky grip palm? Next best thing to Stick Um (remember Lester Hayes?). Certainly not as effective in the cold, but a tremendous advantage over dudes who played in the same, or worse, conditions with bare hands and caught passes, like Raymond Berry. I know. I played wide out, and know when somebody made a good play on the ball, and when I just flat out blew it. As for fumbles, they are almost always forced, at least by RBs past the line of scrimmage. I concur with your last observation, I think (hope) SF's defense takes the day. Ought to be a good game.

I know you mean "dropped balls" and there are certainly lots of dropped balls, and GB did have way too many dropped balls, BUT, I am talking about, at the end of the game how many passes are catargorized as drops that I say were not drops. Those announcers will play back a pass, and say it was a drop when it would have been a circus catch if the reciever would have caught it. Paid to catch doesn't make the difference to me. An incrdible reciever is that tight end for N.O. Now that guy can latch onto a pass like few others can, but not all are as good as that guy. Then on the fumble they criticize, and put blame on the runner not "putting the ball away high, not low. But no one runs that way. You have to do that anticipating the hit, and a lot of times it can't be anticipated. Jim Brown seldom fumbled, and he ran with the ball way out wide, as did Sayres and a lot of great running backs. But they were faster than defenders..now there is so much speed on the field and defenders skilled at stripping the ball. You had better go down rather than try to break tackles in a lot of situations. A pass over the middle that is high, and slightly behind, and a hard thrown ball? Few can come down with it..few want to go over the middle first off with a hit that can send you into Monday.

Graham, the TE from New Orleans is good, but you know who's even better: Rob Gronkowski of the Pats. Best season ever by a tight end. And he's a semi-local boy too, orignally from the Buffalo area(played against Jamestown, just north of us), then moved to the Pittsburgh area his senior season. Another local kid, TE Nate Byham, is on the 49's roster...though I have as yet to see him play professionally...he's currently on IR.

Jere. Rat seems to have a lot of time on his hands. Bet he would be a good field goal kicker. You might not want to shower with him, and he wouldn't do kickoffs because of the need to cover, but he just might be a decent field goal kicker.
