Deer Hunting
I have always hunted deer with sabots and slugs and I don't notice any difference in accuracy. Does anyone else have any useful information? I shoot a Mossberg Model 9200 in twelve gauge with a rifled barrel.

With a rifled barrel sabots should be more accurrate, especially downrange, but if not shoot the slugs. They're cheaper right? Shooting from a sandbag to determine accuracy?
i have a mossberg 500 and a rifled barrel, the sabots do shoot better down range but when do you really take the down range shot. being from ohio i usually do not take more than a 60 yard shot. but on the other hand my gun is dead on at 100 yards with winchester 3" 1.oz rifled slugs
If you have a rifled barrel you should use sabots, if a smooth bore you should use slugs.
I have always heard sabots are more accurate. If you get lucky the state you hunt in will start allowing you to use a muzzleloader during the shotgun season and they are more accurate. I only break out the shotgun these days for when we push hollows.
I use 1 1/4 ounce sabots and get a 3 inch pattern at 90 yards. At 100 yards the drop is about 1.5 inches only. I have a rifled barrel and if I use slugs, they are not so accurate as sabots. I use a red-green sight on the 12 gauge shotgun. Make sure you have an extra battery for the red-green scoped sight.
