Deer Hunting

Are you kidding me?

Uploaded on July 23, 2009

I have been hunting now for 6 years. I had yet to bag my first whitetail. Every year I get more determined and excited to get my deer. After last season ended with a few glimpses of deer, I was sure this upcoming season was going to be my time. How right I was! No, hunting season hasn't started yet but I have finally killed my first whitetail. On July 9th I was on my way to work. We had a big sale going on so I was going in on my day off. I recently began riding a motorcycle to save on gas and enjoy the open air. Little did I know this would also lead to me getting my first deer. I was riding down the highway enjoying the cool ride at about 8:15am. A truck passed me, as it moved back into my lane a doe darted across the road right into my path. Once I realized I could not avoid the deer, I aimed for the head and neck thinking it would do the least amount of damage to me and my bike. I was going about 60 mph when I collided with the deer, breaking its neck, front leg and 2 ribs. Most of the impact was taken on my shin and left ankle. My bike, by some miracle, stayed on its wheels and only had a broken front fender and bent shifting lever. I was taken to the hospital for x-rays. All of my x-rays came back negative and I only suffered a few bumps and bruises. I was able to make it to work by 11:45. Although my injuries were minor, I had lady luck on my side. I have only been riding a short time, maybe 400 miles. I will always remember my first whitetail.

You are one lucky son of a gun. just last summer we had a seasoned rider hit a bird, swerv, hit the siderail and died on impact. Count your blessings! Good luck this season!

I SEE DEER CLAIMS ALL YEAR LONG. (INS. ADJUSTER) YOU ARE ONE OF THE LUCKIEST DRIVERS I HAVE HEARD OF. DEER DO AN AMAZING AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO FULL SIZE TRUCKS LET ALONE A MOTORCYCLE. NOT TO MENTION YOU WERE NOT KILLED OR EVAN HURT BADLY.
DID YOU GO BY A LOTTERY TICKET???

You're much luckier than a friend of mine. Count your blessings. So, did you at least get any venison?

Luck was definitely on your side. Its hard to believe you made it out okay, but glad to hear you did. Hopefully that luck carries with you into hunting season. We would all like to hear about your second deer.

Your guardian angel was working overtime that day. The last three motorcycle vs. deer/antelope wrecks around here were fatalities. What ever you're saying to the Man, keep it up.
