Big Game Hunting

Oklahoma Mountain Lions

Uploaded on September 10, 2011

Attn: folks in MOUNDS, OK area. Two different people had three horses killed by MOUNTAIN LIONS last night. One owner caught & killed 2 of these cats in his barn. Several other lions were howling in the trees nearby after word. Word is the fed govt let some out in KS & OK recently & some killed elsewhere had GPS trackers in their ears. And the game agents even showed up asking for their 'equipment' (GPS) back but would not admit thrived released the animals. Also, they demolished a chicken coup at 231st & US 75 and ate EVERYTHING but the feathers. The horses were killed 3 miles north at 201st & US 75. My partner Jack saw one crossing our farm about 10 miles SW of Mounds recently, too. NICE FOR THOSE DAM FEDS TO TELL US WHAT THEY ARE RELEASING!!!!! Be safe out there and always carry a gun.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. A horse is an expense animal to lose. I would think the DOW would announce such action. A cougar has killed small children here in Colorado. The most recent being a kid on a hike with their parents. This doesn't sound very responsible of the DOW to do this. I am sorry.

Um...sorry but mountain lions don't hunt in packs, so there wouldn't be "several others howling in the trees nearby". Also, they don't howl and the behavior described is not consistent with cougar behavior. Any halfway decent biologist could spot this a mile away. Finally, as is the case with most states, there have been no reintroductions or releases of mountain lions in the state of Oklahoma, nor are there plans to EVER release cats in the state. People have been saying this crap in MO about mountain lions and western diamondbacks for decades and, as in this case, its not true. I get so sick of people lying all the time when it comes to the subject of predators. People will believe anything they get in an email or hear at the MFA.
Winter before last we had one cruising the woods around where I live. He stayed around for about a week and guess what? Nothing happened.

I doubt they are releasing although it is very possible for cats to expand nationwide. Here in the hills of SD the cat population is getting big enough that other smaller cats are being pushed out. Lots of gps trackers and the state was doing a study and followed one from the hills all the way to Conneticut where it was killed by a car. These cats are now constantly moving to northern minnesota and south to the sandhills of nebraska. There are lots of false reports of cats people don't understand how big, fast, and sly they really are. Scout I agree with your claims of tons of false reports, however the reality of studies show cats starting to move eastward from natural competion in the west.

Sorry, so far there are only transient mountain lions confirmed in OK and no breeding pairs confirmed. Sorry, gotta call B.S. on the OKC mountain lions.
Wait, unless they're black cougars in which case we have an overpopulation of them. Yep. Black cougars.
