Big Game Hunting

Favorite Hunting

Uploaded on March 20, 2009

What is your favorite big game animal to hunt or would like to hunt, why.

Personally I would just like to stick with whitetails, but maybe try elk or moose.

I'm a whitetail nut, always will be. Id like to take a bull Elk or a pronghorn. Moose would be cool but i have no room in my rancher for the trophy.

I love to hunt Roosevelt Elk. I feel fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest and having the sucess I've had on tagging the bulls I've taken.

No doubt it’s elk in September with my bow, just a magical time to be in the Rocky Mountains. The amount of animals you will see, no big crowds, the cool nights, aspen leaves and oak changing. Every new spot is a postcard photo that your hunting in!!! I’m counting the days now

Whitetail and Black Bear here in Michigan, and I would love to hunt ELK, MOOSE, and GRIZZ someday.
I would also like to go on Safari in south Africa for plains game...just to say I did!

I have only hunted whitetails and turkeys, but i think it would be awesome to hunt in Alaska for Grizzly, Moose, or Caribou.
P.S. Where do you live in Michigan Ralph because I live in Marquette.

Dall Sheep I guess, but maybe early Sitka blacktails while they're up high. My favorite thing is to go by myself, or with one of two buddies and just glass and glass. It is the best hunting in the world, and some of the most challenging (not the sitkas, that's just fun.) I like really like Roosevelte Elk too, but I have to bring a friend cuz I can't get that out by myself.

Although I have never hunted Africa and I do enjoy sheep and goat hunting my absolute favorite is still a Rocky Mountain elk hunt. There is a lifestyle provided by packing in on horses and living in elkcamp that is unmatched elsewhere. Getting a bull is icing on the cake but certainly preferable to going home empty handed. Unfortunately I learned today that neither my son nor I drew a special elk permit so we are committed to the less than desirable general elk season. Remember that in Wyoming this season is about a month too early unlike Montana.

Yeah, in CO too. 2nd Rifle season is October 17th this year. We can't hunt 3rd Rifle because that is when the landowner hunts.

Have several Whitetails and 1 Moose, want an Elk of my own since I think that are the best meat. You can have any Bears or Pigs.

Right now my favorite big game animal to hunt is the mule deer. I just took bowhunter education and really want to kill a deer with a bow. I really want to kill a elk to, doesn't matter if it is with a gun or a bow.

I know it is a bit off topic, but this thread is for BIG GAME, not whitetails.

Deer are NOT big game, no matter how little you are! Big Game starts at elk, bears, moose, and up IMHO.

Whitetail. The wait, the skittishness of them, and the sudden butterflies in your stomach when you see one . That's just what we have in Arkansas if I lived somewhere where there are elk I'd probably like elk hunting, but living here I like deer
