Bird Hunting
I own a 20 ga. Benelli Montefeltro that jammed on me the other day..4 shots at roosters, and downed but one! One shot should have been enough for any one of them, but I never got a 2nd shot! I take care for the gun, and feel it is clean every time out, BUT, never had to get into the magazine tube, It was black, gummed up, and the bottom cap would stick, and not recycle the next shell. I took it in to where I bought it, and a friend of mine that works in the gun dept. owns 3 of them!...two 12's and a 20. He never has had to get inside the magazine. I got the manual, and the magazine tube is shown threaded into the receiver. BUT, after several guys tried to hand twist it out, another guy told us it is more than likely HEAT threaded into the receiver. You can take the cap off, and take out the thin metal plug, but not get inside to clean. They squirted some gunk cleaner that evaporates into the magazine through the small plug hole at the top, and it now works, but can you not get into the magazine?
I'm sure Brownells.com has something for that. There is probably a special wrench for that.
Haven't even heard form Benelli yet...think a week would be enough time to return an e-mail.
No one musta ever had my problem. I solved it, and you can ONLY get the magazine off by sending it back to Benelli. They use a LOCTITE on the threads that screw the magazine into the receiver, and you have to use HEAT to unscrew it. There is a hole at the top where the thin metal plug stem inserts, and I sprayed some "SCRUBBER" into the hole. It is a can spray that removes any gunk, and then evaporates. And the bottom cap where the shells are inserted has a hole in it, and I sprayed some REM oil into it. Slides in, and out now fine. bang, bang, bang now, and just what I did on a covey of huns that got up too far out of range it appeared the other day. Man are birds skiddish this time of year now. And not that they get hunted at all. Bet these birds never saw a hunter this year..just skiddish in the Winter months.
