Digital video camera hat mount

Uploaded on March 17, 2010

If you own a Flip or other similar sized digital video camera with a threaded port for a tripod, you can make a hat mount to record your upland game hunts or shooting in general. It takes an old baseball style hat, 1 - 1 1/2" 1/4" bolt, two washers and 1 - 1/4" nut to make the mount. Poke a hole in the center of the hat's bill. Place one washer on the bolt and put it through the hole from the underside of the hat. Put the other washer on the topside and tighten down the nut. Thread on the camera and you're ready to record your shots. Works great to get video of your dog in action.

how is your hat supposed to stay on? i have a flip, so i can say(unless you have a really tight hat) it doesn't seem sturdy.

I saw a guy trying to sell the same rig online for $30. My hat stays on fine and isn't tight. It does take a little getting used to, but it's because of having to get used to the weight.
