Kent Shotgun Shells

Uploaded on April 23, 2009

Has anyone use the Kent Upland Bird shells with diamond shot? My dad swears by them and I am looking for a good shell to upgrade to for pheasants.

I used the Kent diamond shot shells (#4 shot)for late season pheasants in SD, and was very impressed with their performance on long shots at late season birds (excellent knock-down power). I also used the Kent Fasteel (#2 shot) on public land. I plan to use them all season long this year as their performance impressed me, and the price is lower than the Fiocci I was using previously. I can say I will buy Kent shells whenever possible.

I use a Remington 870 Express 12 gauge 3" magnum shotgun for geese. This weekend, while hunting, I found a Kent shotgun shell in the couch that someone had left. Never seeing this brand before, I decided to try it (3" magnum, BB shot). It jammed in the chamber after firing and I had to dismantle the gun to free it. I've used Remington, Winchester, and Federal (my current favorite) and have never experienced jams before.

This is one brand I will never buy.

Used Kents a lot, lead shot for upland birds, and like them. And my duck hunting friends could pile up a mt. of Kent hulls after a duck hunting season...Kent steel, but do not know about the diamond shot.

Kent makes a great load. I have not used much of there lead loads outside of the trap range but their steel is great. It is ten dollars cheaper than black cloud and other waterfowl ammunition. You can get a wide variety in their brand I shoot kent fasteel in 2 for geese and 4 for ducks and they move 1550 fet per second. Never had an issue. I live and die by their shells. Diamond shot seems to be a great load as well they charge more for them and the money difference does not seem worth it since their cheaper loads work just fine. Its more of a personnel preference. To Thomas you have no idea how long or the weather that shell had been through. Any shells hull can swell which most likely happened. Its noit the manufactures fault. I have had this happen with federal, winchester, kent, etc. I am an avid waterfowl hunter and It happens alot after the shells get wet. At least that is my experience. Lately I have been keeping my shells in more dry areas and have not had an issue yet so I am imagining the water had some effect on it

I don't think the plastic hulls swell when they get wet. The days of paper hulls are over.

Sayfu, What do you think caused my gun to do that than? Because it has been over a year since it has jammed but only shells I got wet did it. I can not think of any other reason because I switched brands immediatley. Also had shells stick in my citori which has to be swelling because i could not get them out without a knife. If you or anyone has any insight I would love to know. Thanks.

You could be right I guess. I had a shell jam in the magazine of my Montefeltro auto yesterday, and missed a pheasant, and was done for the day...not very happy driving home. I thought it was new shells I was using...RIO shells. But my magazine is gummed up, and no one can get inside the darn thing. I have an email into Benelli. But I have had your problem. You'd think an O/U could devour anything of the right ga., but I have high brass shells that will not fit into the lower barrel,,the action will not close.( a Beretta Silver Pigeon ) When I pull one out, it has to go into the upper barrel, and that ain't good under the heat of the moment. It has to be sizing it appears.
