Bird Hunting

My favorite Duck Hunt

Uploaded on April 05, 2009

I was introduced to hunting since a early age (1 or 2 years old). I have seen my father shoot two ducks with one shot and I have seen him miss evey duck that flew by in a day.So it wasn't surprising when I turned 12 that he took me out to his favorite hunting spot. Our hunting spot is not the best place. It is good for wood ducks blue wing and green wing teal, there is a occasional malard and we never see geese that are even close to be low enough for a shot. But that first time that I went out was macial, it seemed that mother nature told all the ducks and geese in the world to come to my spot or at least it felt like i saw a million birds that day. I was successful and shot two wood ducks and a goose and I must have missed 3 malards and hundreds of wood ducks and teal. That day is and for ever will by my favorite hunting memoerie.

That sounds like a really good hunt. A couple of years ago I had the good fortune to hunt with my dad, his cousin and some older gentlemen (in their 60s). We were field shooting a pea field in Neepawa in early october, and it seemed like there were thousands of ducks coming into the dekes. I received the best compliment a waterfowler could have that day, when one of the old-timers asked "who was shooting the howitzer over at the other end of the line?" I was ecstatic that they were impressed with my hunting, and ever since I have prided myself on that compliment.
