Hunting
When hunting in the field I keep 5 cartridges in my rifle and 5 in my pockets. To keep the extras from making noise I put one in each pocket. I also keep them in seperate pockets to keep from losing all of them at once during the course of the day while twisting, turning, crawling, hopping, napping and (usually) slipping, sliding, falling, rolling, flipping etc.
Good ideal.
my wife's hair ties work great .. just wrap up 5 or so rounds and zero noise - and no fumbling through several pockets
Poke holes to fit your cartridges thru a peice of foam insulation (pipe wrap) about 6 inches long. 6 feet costs about 50 cents. and seperate your rifle cartridges--No noise.
The less the ammunition interacts with other objects the better and safer. Soft point bullets are more accurate if the soft lead points are not deformed by bouncing around in pockets. Tell the kids you want an ammo carrier for your belt this Christmas.
I have an old Lawrence leather ammo carrier that holds ten rounds with double loops for each round. I wear it on the tag end of my belt so it goes 'easy on, easy off' and rides close to the buckle on the strong side. Easy to reach even when wearing a jacket.
I just bought a shell holder for my
gun stock which costs
about $4.00. It works great.
My 4-in-1 duck hunting parka has enough shell loops to hold 24 shells. Why doesn't someone make a deer hunting coat with shell loops? Sure are handy. No fumbling around digging in the bottom of a pocket or shells falling out when you bend over, etc. Just lift the pocket flap and there they are ready to pull out. I hunt with a clip magazine rifle. An extra loaded clip is worth it's weight in gold. Shells in it won't rattle around.
