Deer Hunting

Deer love Peanut Butter

Uploaded on September 30, 2009

Does your wife ever buy that cheap peanut butter that tastes like crap, and says that you "can't afford" the good stuff? Well, if she does just take it out of the cupboard one day while she isn't looking. After that go outside and spread it on a tree or stump. Set up a trail cam and in no time you'll have deer licking that peanut butter off the tree. Set up a stand near it, and your good to go. I've used this method many times and in my opinion it is VERY affective.

This method does work, however will quickly kill your deer heard. You see, deers stomaches work by using bacteria to digest and break down there food. Peanut butter and other products that deer love such as syrup, contains preservatives which make the product, unable to be broken down by bacteria, so it has a longer shelf life. By feeding deer peanut butter, they cannot digest the food. Try putting some syrup in a spray bottle with water and spraying it up into the air by your stand before you hunt. This way the deer will smell, come to your stand, and wont die. Well, at least not from the peanut butter.....

I've never heard of peanut butter killing a deer and haven't seen it documented anywhere, but I agree that it's probably not all that good for them. Never heard of using syrup as a deer attractant either, and I might try that at a trail cam location to see how well it works before I would use it around my stand. I know both syrup and peanut butter attract bears pretty well though.

I have reason to believe you Wschoonover. I own some beef cows and if your feeding them hay silage but want to switch to corn silage, you have to slowly work it into their diet. The reason being is that their stomachs bacteria can't react to the change which results in sickness.
