Deer Hunting
This past week end I found myself out hunting alone and was fortunate to get a deer. I was approx. 3/4 to one mile in and on the wrong side of a small mountain. The deer's weight turned out to be 103lbs not so big but enough to be dragging up hill and alone. I've dragged deer out before but never thought to use a walking stick while dragging. I picked up a solid piece of wood about 5 foot long and solid enough to put my weight on. I used it as you would a paddle, placing it in front of me at an angle and then pulling the deer and myself at the same time. It really helped me pull the deer out, Most of the drag was uphill and this simple use of a stick helped a lot with the drag. I've not had the opportunity to try this on a larger deer but you can bet if i find myself alone and in this situation I will use this method to get myself and the deer out.
sounds good, I'll try it!
Thanks
