Deer Hunting
Me and my buddies decided we were going to take some walkie-talkies to our blinds so we could tell each other if one is headed your way. We all decided to goof around a little bit and come up with "code names" and there were to be no actual names on the radio (for fun and we just didnt want the neighboring hunters to know who was in the woods). The whole morning the 5 of us were trying out the radios and every body but 2 of us were using the code names, and we were bickering back and forth. As the morning went on I saw a couple of does headed my uncles way. So i got on the radio and told him. and of course, he got the heater going a little too warm...and fell asleep. so i kept trying to get ahold of him, using his code name, then he wakes up and responds, "what the hell CHRISTOPHER, the radio is beeping like no other what is going on?!?! Is there something wrong?!?!" so aggravated that no one is using code names i replied, "no GEORGE i was just trying to tell you that there are 3 does headed your way." silence....BOOM, i hear a shot in his direction. So after the morning hunt i walked over to his blind and sure enough...he was sleeping. so i wake him up and come to find out he didnt see anything. Not 30 seconds later the radio went off and one of the neighboring hunters replied, "CHRISTOPHER, PAUL, GEORGE, STEVE, and JASON, i listened to your whole conversation...you guys are soooo dumb (laughter)...oh and by the way thanks for the heads up on those does, the one should taste pretty good."
funny, but hopefully fictional. here in ohio, its highely illegal to use radios in the persuit of game...
This took place in northern Michigan, and Michigan does not regulate the use of radios while hunting so it was all legal.
This is really funny. I often wonder when i hear all this on the radio how many people intercept.
lol, its all good then. great story...
"the chicken is in the henhouse"
We too use radios to coordinate our deer drives. My cousin, who in my humble opionion is a bit demented, does Conway Twitty or Hannibal Lecter on the radio. We watch him closely. haha.
down here in montana we use code names too but we here people tlking about were the game is at so on our next hunt we go there and kill wat they should have...
up in potter county a bunch of guys from our camp were bear hunting and i got seprated from the group on a drive . this was my first time in this particular area , so i didnt know where i was. i tried calling on the walkie talkies many times , but had no response. after hours of hiking , i made it back to camp. then with all of us together , we figured out the walkie talkies all had differnt privacy codes. so none of us could hear each other talk ! and even once we had them right , the voices coming over were so distorted we started calling it "martian talk"
Oh contrair my friend. It is a federal law that it is illegal to use any type transmiting device in the aid of hunting ,anywhere. You are only allowed the use of a cell phone or radio only for the use of an emergency. Or common usage. Very thin line. You are not allowed to use either while hunting to alert others to the movement of animals. All regulations are not printed in the rules and regulations booklet. So beware and for warned.
