Deer Hunting
Do does typically group back together after the rut is over, and do does that haven't bred stay alone? The reason I ask is I have watched a group of does, mostly smaller, walk by my stand and hoping one has yet to breed and will have a buck following. Im in SE MI, which puts it about in line with the second rut.
The deer seem to herd up either as winter sets in or as a result of hunting pressure, i'm not sure which. It is never bad to see herds of deer when you're hunting and often late season the bucks will join the herd. strength in numbers i guess. The second rut should be soon upon us so hunt where you see those does.
I agree that deer seem to group up as winter gets closer. Bucks will still be chasing/following, even if groups of does if they are either checking them or if one of the group hasn't been bred yet. The buck I shot this year was following (I wouldn't say pushing the does like a full chase, but following and checking). It was a group of 3 does that it was following.
When the doe is ready to breed, then they will seperate off from the group, otherwise the group usually stays together.
i hunt in SE MI as well, northern oakland county....group of deer is going to be does, but that doesnt mean there cant be a buck with them. lone deer, probably a buck, and also when a group of does comes through watch behind them for a buck following. he could be anywhere from right on there ass to 10 minutes behind the does.
scratchgolf72,
Well Tiger did it today. I didn't think that he would ever get his head together again to win another tournament. I watched the last few holes and he looked like the Tiger of old. Maybe he is getting his head on right again. I don't like what he did in his personal life but you can't deny the fact that he can play golf.
sarge,
im still under the impression that he will never win another major. i think he will still have moments of greatness (such as today), and win a few tournaments, but i just cant ever for see him being the tiger of old.
maybe im wrong? only time will tell if he is still as capable as he once was.
your talking about cheetah woods on a hunting page lol
