Hungarian Venison Goulash

Ingredients:
- 2 tbs. vegetable oil, divided
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tbs. Hungarian sweet paprika (not regular paprika)
- 2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
- 3 pounds venison stew meat, cut into small cubes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- egg noodles (follow directions on packaging)
