i've heard of very slow hunting in parts of new york as well this year. could have something to do with past winters and lack of predator control. i haven't lived here long enough to know if it is either of those causes. i didn't even see a doe this year while hunting.

We have had very slow hunting in both PA and Nj this year. Most I talk to say the same. We don't experience much in the way of Winter-kill here in S.Jersey, but the harder past two winters with snowcover couldve reduce fawn birth rates. Predators and/ or disease are likely contributers as well.

hey guys i live on the eastern shore of md.
let me tell you i hunted the early muzzleloader season as well as the rifle and late muzzleloader seasons.

and from what i've seen and heard the overall deer movement wasn't there. The biggest effect on this was weather. Once the deer finished the rut, they started putting on there winter coats and the along with the higher then normal temps all throughout sept. oct. nov. and dec. this caused the deer to be less mobile during those warmer daytime temps. I did manage to shot 4 deer this year including my first buck a Big 8 pt that i got on the morning of the last day of rifle season. so alls been well other then the almost total lack of movement. hope this helps
