An inexpensive solution to knowing the wind direction while hunting.

Attach a piece of sewing thread to the muzzel end of your rifle, just behind the front sight. The thread should be a bright color and hang down 8-10". A glance at the thread easily indicates the direction of the slightest breeze and whether or not you are in danger of having your scent alert your prey.
