Deer Hunting

Neighbor Problems

Uploaded on November 16, 2009

I hunt a small tract of land surrounded by a strictly managed hunting club. We are bordered by private landowners on our north side, who we used to allow to hunt our property before they purchased their land. Well, here lately they get angry every time i shoot a deer and ruin my hunt by walking or riding four wheelers on the property line(usually the first or last thirty minutes of the day). I am good friends with their sons and they seem to have no problem with me. But their parents are making hunting a living heck for me. To the point we dont share trail camera pictures anymore. They even offered to cut our small cabin lot for us while my dad was in the hospital then charged us fourty dollars once a week for three months. It really chaps my hind side, but I dont want a bad neighbor relationship, so any suggestions? We have already tried to approach them and ask them to stop and they got extremely defensive and confrontational. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated.

just hang in there. you need to keep the lines of communication open. you need to have a good sit down talk with these people and work the problems out. as far as the 4 wheelers, there really isnt much that you can do. as long as they're on their property, they have every right. however, i've had no problem with bumping deer on 4 wheelers. on several occasions, i drove right up on deer down on our farm. good luck and let us know how it goes.

Always remember that the hunting club does not own your property. You are the owner of your property, and you can do what you want when you want on your property and there is nothing they can do about it. That's just the way it is. If the hunting club would lease a much bigger piece of property than what they are leasing now, they would not be having the same problems. They need to get over it.
