Wet Boots

Uploaded on March 03, 2013

We all have those days in the field that we just can't avoid, it will ruin your day and send you home as quick as you got there. Wet boots. It's the most uncomfortable feeling, and can ruin any sporting event. Although avoiding wet boots is hard, here's a tip to dry them out without buying an expensive boot dryer(going from 40-100bucks), or rather than sticking them in front of fireplace hoping they dry in time for your next adventure, put your boots on their side in front of your basement dehumidifier. This will suck the water right out, and even take some of that smell away. It works for me, give it a shot.

OK, but one of the best investments I ever made was to purchase a Peet's boot dryer, and at the time cost in the high $20's, and today is around $40. They have greatly exended the life of my waders, and hip boots that get body moisture in them, and rot from the inside out. But put them on the Peets, and walk away with no rush to take them off. The circulating air is around room temp air. I have two of them now so that one is always free to put shoes, boots, waders, whatever on them.

I take a stack of read and outdated newspapers to elk camp with me. When I kick my boots off I'll crinkle up a single page of newspaper up and start filling my boots up with the balled up paper. Set my boots out of the way and in the morning I'll remove a lot of wet paper. It dries the boot out a whole lot better and no clammy wet leather to deal with. My feet appreciate it.

268bull...I steal asswipe out of the public restroom. Doesn't leave news ink inside my boots.
