Deer Hunting

Wild animals had a good feast.

I am recently a new bow hunter, starting about 2 years ago. My first year hunting and i havent seen a deer yet. My grandpa and I are hunting about 100 yards or so away, close enough not to see eachother. It was a nice night and me and my grandpa had decided to switch tree stands, he sits in my stand i sit in his. At about 6:15 i could see deer heading over to my grandpa. A few minuts later i hear a twang. I could see 3 deer run off into differnt part of the woods and dissapear.
As a 13 year old i had gotten very excited becuase i was about to see my first dead deer up close, and maybe lucky enough to gut it out. My grandpa walked back and forth where the deer ran off but he looked very sad. He gets me from my stand and tells me that he had just shot a picture perfect 12 pointed buck out of my stand. My grandpa than tells me he found a blood trail but than lost it. We looked untill dark for drops of blood. We had lost the trail. My grandpa tells me that we will look in the morning for that big buck, and that we would go back to camp for the night.
In the morning we look for hours and than we find it. My grandpa turns around and says "Look at that" and gives me the tiger woods fist pump. When we walk up to it our stomaches dropped. There was nothing left of the deer except part of the shoulders and the neck and the head. Alot of thoughts went through our heads as we stare at the three quarters eaten up buck.
We drag the buck back to our car without saying a word. Thoughts like if only we had a flash light, and we should have looked sooner in the day were going through my head. We go back to our garage to get a saws-all to cut the horns off. My grandpa told me "that would have been a head mount". We were just too late.
Now Those horns sit on a wooden board in our hunting shack in the living room. We will never know what ate that deer up, wheather it was a wolf or a pack of cayotes or even a bear. Now we never let a deer sit overnight withough a bunch of our buddies looking for it. I will never forget that deer half eaten up, not even a bone from the hind quarters was left.
