Bass Fishing

Float Fishing and Turkey Hunting

Uploaded on February 03, 2009

I'm interested to see if anyone has ever been on a smallmouth float fishing trip in combination with a river camp-out turkey hunt in the morning during the spring turkey season?

Thanks

Kyle,

I have never done a float trip/turkey hunt for smallmouth (not any where I live) but I have done this for other species. It is a great way to turkey hunt especially if ther is an abundance of public land along the stream. Slow drifting an casting will also let you hear gobblers later in the days as you cover territory. I will ocassionally call as I drift, you'll be surprised at how many birds will answer back.

I agree with beekeeper. The reason I started turkey hunting is mainly because of all the turkeys I would see and hear in certain areas when I was fishing.Unless the turkeys are at the creek drinking water than you can't be anymore stealth.I always love the spring in Kansas. The white bass spawn, catfish spawn, and morel mushroom seasons all happens during the spring turkey season.Excellent topic.

Kosofish, My peeps probably aren't to farm from you in Missouri, thats cool. See I live in Seattle now and there ain't a turkey within an hour of me, so thats settles it come April my boss is gonna have to buckle down cuz I'm taking a week of and going back to Kansas.
