Deer Hunting
if you could have just one shot gun what would it be and why. i would choose a 20 guage because i hunt everything from squirrels to deer with it.

Winchester Model 12, 12 gauge, modified. Just call me old fashioned.
Life with one shotgun would be boring, but I could make do with a 12 gauge Beretta 391 if I had to shoot one gun for everything.
P.S. I'd pick the 391 because it is light, very reliable, and its gas operation makes it fairly soft-shooting. It would be one gun I could shoot for everything: birds, waterfowl, turkeys, deer and clay targets.
I know it's boring but my 870 Wingmaster is just reliable and trusting like an old dog laying at your feet.
I will always have my Father's old Mossberg 500AT. I've used it most of my life, and it feels more natural than anything else.
I choose benelli nova 20 gauge it will shoot any ammo you put in the chamber. And yes I clean my gun after every hunt.
I would take the Remington 870 in a 12ga. You can hunt anything with it and it is a reliable firearm .
Remington 1100 12 ga. just got another one today
I've always loved my Remington 1100 in 12 ga. but when I shot my buddys 12 ga. Benelli auto I broke every clay thrown! I also like my 16 ga. Ithaca 37 (new) and the Iver Johnson Champion 16 ga. like my Grandpa's last gun.... Picking a favorite is almost like trying to pick which one of your kids you love most, almost impossible. :-]
I guess I'd go with the 1100. It really feels good in my hands. :-)
870 12ga.
i would pick my Ithaca 37 16 gauge or my semiauto charles daily 20 gauge
ithaca
A second job. Maybe a move to a location that allows more than one. Maybe a new wife. I would remove the obstacle standing between me and another shotgun.
These I prefer more than choosing one shotgun.
Since I don't deer hunt with a shotgun, versitility is the key word. I have several shotguns, but all were lacking in one manner or another. Finally I settled on a Remington 11-87 Super Mag which allows hunting for everything. The automatic action takes up a lot of the recoil for the 3 1/2 inch mag loads and is much more plesant to shoot than a 3 1/2 inch pump.

An 870
Mossberg 500 in 12 gauge. Great for home defense and out in the field.
Benelli M2 Field, it's a great versatile auto loader that is as reliable as any pump.
if I had to pick just one, would say Mossberg 500 12ga. not the prettiest, but well designed and reliable or my 16ga ithaca double yup my double if had to pick just one no more turkeys, ducks or geese just my double and upland birds but life would be much less fufilling with only one shotgun
My Winchester model 12 16 guage first as a pump repeater, a tie between my Browning BSS double barreled 20 guage and my Parker GHE 12 guage for first as a double, and my Remington 1100 28 guage as a semi auto.
You can't beat the Remingon 870 Special Purpose with interchangeable chokes and 3 inch chamber. Never fails and the interchangeable chokes allow it to be used for everything you can use a shotgun for. (And you don't get tempted by the 31/2 inch shells with their brutal recoil.)
A remington 870 12 gauge
I would go with the 11-87 also - the 1100 is not as versatile with different loads using the older gas system. The 11-87 has enough different chokes, barrels, and aftermarket accessories available that you can set it up for pretty much any task that can be done with a shotgun.
The Remington 870 is one of the most dependable firearms ever made. It's reasonable priced and seems to fit just about everyone who shoulder this piece of firearm history. Make it a 12 ga. and never look back.
It would be my 12 gauge O/U that I feel the most comfortable with to hunt rabbit to moose is necessary.
got to go with my mossberg 500. might be to big for small game but i would hold out for bigger game.
