washed in the blood of the lamb - I was fishing with my best friend who had a good chuckle cuz i ask the lord to bless my fishing pole, That day I hooked 5 big springer salmon while managing to land one 42lbs, we fished the same hole used the same set up etc. as i was cleaning my fish he lost his rigging and used my pole to hook a springer which he lost. I believe the point was God was trying to show that boy something.

Hail Odin, All Father who hung from the World tree Yggsdrasil for 9 days to gain the Holy Runes! My Troth is to the Gods of my ancestors, whose Divine Names are invoked by all English speakers (without even knowing they speak so!). Me and mine have not forgotten our own True Gods and we will keep Troth to Them. Damn us to Hel if you like, we know Her well, for Hel is not a place, Hel is Lady Death and we all meet her someday whatever our mortal belief system. She is a beautiful maiden seen from one side and a rotten corpse from the other, may we all get to face the good side of Her Face. So Yes We are going to Hel (unless Odin wants me for a Valkiry, come Raganarok) but we are good with that, see you there!

Minigunner111, I'll take my fruitcake with a horn of mead, thank you very much. The Old Gods never died, never left us, were always remembered. After All Monday is obviosly Moon day and Tuesday is for Tyr The God of truth and honor, who lost his hand binding the Fenris Wolf. Wednesday is Woden's day, Odin the All father, who walks among men in disguise. Thursday is Thor's, the God of strength whose hammer Mjolnir smites giants. Friday is for Freya the goddess, whose twin brother is Frey the bountiful. All this we know from the Sagas and Edda's the ancient writ of our people just as the Bible is a record of Middle Eastern People. The Bible is quite clear, the Hebrews are Yahweh's chosen people. I have no issues with Semites but I ain't one, so I ain't one of Yahweh's chosen, you all can follow whatever religion you like (I admit I don't like Mormons, Scientologists or Moonies much). I have dear friends who are christians, muslims, jews, druids, buddhists, hindus and ever single one is convinced that their particular faith is true! As far as I am concerned All religions that don't demand cash or exhort folks to kill each other are true!
So am I such a fruitcake then?

from snuffy wrote 42 weeks 6 days ago

Bella raises a good point. I feel it's all about faith. There's room for all of us! Like he says "As far as I am concerned All religions that don't demand cash or exhort folks to kill each other are true!" PS Jesus does it for me. But I have dabbled in Toaism and Budhism Most seem to have common beliefs expressed differently (such as due onto others as you would have done onto you)

The thing I wonder about with Christianity is where do Believers get the notion that they have any right to impose their ideas of theology on other people? I know and love many Christian folk who advocate for their faith by their saintly examples but then one encounters so many who think their beliefs need to be univerally imposed on everyone, even those who have their own paths and are disinterested. What is it about Monotheism that requires demonization of all other faiths? Why Can't we all just get along?
Why must Christian Values be the only ones recognized in a nation that officially promotes no creed over another? The myth has been promoted that the Nation was founded by Christians, but examination of history shows that while the Founding Fathers shared no common faith, they were to a man Masons! Thereby if one wants to get technical about it American Values are Masonic Values (and I don't have any problem with that either)!
My other issue might be with Christians who seem to prefer the word of Paul over the words of Yeshua himself. I have a great respect for everything the great rabbi taught, but it is all in the narrations of others, Yeshua (Jesus) wrote nothing himself. So many of the conflicts in Christianity seem to be in analysis, stemming from what the Disciples put in, rather than the direct teachings themselves. I also fascinating that the Koran has more information about the life of Jesus than the New Testiment. Read 'em both and compare! Some may be offended that I examine their faith from "outside" so to speak, but any creed or discipline that cannot stand analysis demands a closed mind, and that I will not have. Minds are like parachutes....

Instead of offering to pray for me, or pronouncing dogmatic slogans how about answering the question? Why do Christians seem to think they have the right to impose their beliefs on others? I assume that catfisher123456789 would likely prefer that I don't pray to Odin on his behalf, but personally I could give a hoot who you pray to on my behalf (as long as it isn't Nergal Hittite God of Pestilence, Please don't pray to Him on my behalf, I don't need any pestilence today...).

So in us trying to bring everyone to the TRUTH, we are just doing what Jesus told us to do and I respect your choice to follow your pagan gods but, we are just doing what we are told to do. Been following this for a bit but haven't added anything. Writing my fishing report before heading to church this morning... I have a few minutes so I thought I'd chime in.

I'm 50. Been a believer all my life. I am blessed to have strong parents, an incredible wife who loves Jesus much more than me and the best kids a dad could ever hope for.

IMO, the church - Christians in general - have failed their neighbors in almost every way. We have attended our churches, our rallies, our conferences but have forgotten what is most important... to love. To love our enemies... the unloveable... the poor and the widows. We preach the Gospel but don't live it in our actions or our attitudes.

Take this forum discussion. How can you share your heart on a forum to the point the other guy sees your face and feels your words? How do you make a difference in someone's life by making a quick, general statement like, "I love Jesus" here? And especially trying to argue "religions" in the most impersonal form there is in today's society. Not saying God can't use this - He can. But I think most of the time it only bolsters the belief held by most skeptical Americans that Christianity is just another religion among all the other religions.

Now you don't know me from Adam... so take my words with a grain of salt.

I've run out of time... gotta go.

He is not my "Lord", I submit my free will to no one.

He is not my "Savior", as I reject the concept of original sin and therefore I am not in need of a savior. Anyone who honestly believes that children are born so evil that they need to be cleansed by a magical ceremony (baptism) is a cynic of the highest order.

All that being said, Jesus was an extremely wise man with some of the most valuable spiritual teachings in history. Modern Christians, particularly the more fundamentalist elements in the evangelical community have a great deal to learn from the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I find it fascinating that I should be offered violence by supposed "Christians" Like jmcctheboss23 who have offered to "kick my ass and put a fist in my mouth". My years in the dojo say "who are you kidding? first, and secondly "wasn't it turn the other cheek and blessed are the meek" Dude? I think you need to spend some more time in Sunday School, fella lest you blaspheme your own faith by misrepresenting the teachings of the very guy you claim you owe everything to. He gonna be pissed at you for bashing other folks in His name! Of course I notice this often with persons who espose knee-jerk Christianity without the benefit of understanding their own faith. They convict themselves out of their own mouths every time. I know the Bible well, I had 5 years of seminary. What I read in the Bible lead me to my true faith, The Nordic Faith of Odin and my ancient ancestors. The stuff that goes on in many parts of the Bible would be considered very dishonorable in my belief system, especially the frequent slaughters of nonhebrews in the Old Testament by the supposedly blessed "children of God". If I study what YHWH wants and lets occur, I would be less willing to worship that than the afore mentioned Nergal Hittite Lord of Pestilence! Fortunately I have found my true faith and need not partake of any of the corrupt xtian tradition. Thank You jmctheboss23, for again reminding me why I found modern xtianity utterly devoid of spiritual value and ultimate worth. Keep up the good work! I am certain you convert more Pagans every day!

first i love fishing and hunting and everything outdoors but im no believer, theres no proof that jesus ever even existed eccept for the new testament in which all books were written at a minimum of 100 years after he supposedly existed. second he predicted that the world was going to end during his desciples life time and didnt, third if you read for yourself in the old testament all the rules imposed by moses by the comand of god you will see atrosities such as having the village stone your children if they are unruley, rules and aproval for slavery, as well as murder.and if youve been told in church that the old testament read matthew 5:18-19 "for truly i say to you, till heaven and earth pass awaynot an iota, not a dot will pass the law until all is acomplished. whoever then relaxes one of the least of these comandments and teaches men so, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" and that is a quote from jesus himself, or the guy who invented him at any rate field and stream is a fantastic magazine but no place for a sermon 'field and stream' not 'church and temple'

washed in the blood of the lamb - I was fishing with my best friend who had a good chuckle cuz i ask the lord to bless my fishing pole, That day I hooked 5 big springer salmon while managing to land one 42lbs, we fished the same hole used the same set up etc. as i was cleaning my fish he lost his rigging and used my pole to hook a springer which he lost.

Modern Christians, particularly the more fundamentalist elements in the evangelical community have a great deal to learn from the teachings of Jesus Christ.

first i love fishing and hunting and everything outdoors but im no believer, theres no proof that jesus ever even existed eccept for the new testament in which all books were written at a minimum of 100 years after he supposedly existed. second he predicted that the world was going to end during his desciples life time and didnt, third if you read for yourself in the old testament all the rules imposed by moses by the comand of god you will see atrosities such as having the village stone your children if they are unruley, rules and aproval for slavery, as well as murder.and if youve been told in church that the old testament read matthew 5:18-19 "for truly i say to you, till heaven and earth pass awaynot an iota, not a dot will pass the law until all is acomplished. whoever then relaxes one of the least of these comandments and teaches men so, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" and that is a quote from jesus himself, or the guy who invented him at any rate field and stream is a fantastic magazine but no place for a sermon 'field and stream' not 'church and temple'

I am a new creature in Christ Jesus my Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:13. At one time I thought that, what I called, "so called christians" were trying to empose their beliefs on me. It even got to the point that if someone even mentioned the word Jesus. I would hate them. "They are tring to change me." Or "force me to believe in their God." Now I understand that it was not them, but my own conviction that was waring inside me. When we have not experieanced Jesus in are heart we truly do not understand the motivation behind what compells a Christain to share his or her beliefs. It's love... And Prayer is an expression of love... To God... For the Unsaved... And It works I am living testimony of that.. Thank you lord Jesus for bringing me out of Bondage. Sin had me bound, but Jesus made me free..
