Hey, I am new to hunting and this is only my first season, before today my only shooting experience was with a shotgun and hunting waterfowl. However, today I went to the range to get some practice with a rifle and start to learn proper technique and so forth. I was shooting a .308 and 30.30 Lever and I was struggling, until the guy helping me noticed I was most likely left eye dominant. I know it sounds stupid but I struggled to just switch my eyes and shoot even though I know it sounds simple. He suggested I switch and shoot left handed which I was hesitant to do as I normally feel quite uncoordinated doing things lefty except in this instance my shooting dramatically improved. I am just asking for some insight and advice as to whether or not I should continue to work at shooting lefty with a rifle (righty with a shotgun was fine as both eyes are open) or should I work on training my right eye to be dominant. I am not sure if shooting one gun left and one type righty mattered or if its all preference. Sorry for such a long post and any help or insight for a new hunter would be greatly appreciated thanks a lot.
