Hunting

New To The Turkey World

Uploaded on October 23, 2011

I am new to turkey hunting, and thus far, have only hunted gobblers in the spring. Last week, I was out scouting whitetail, and came across some turkeys about 300 yards off in some thick timber, across a ridge. I sat and watched them for a while, and then got back to deer. Several hours later, I came across the same group of birds, and they had travelled quite a distance. I am familiar with how far deer and elk will traverse...but, how about turkeys? How much ground do they tend to cover in a day?

It absolutely depends on the food source. That time of year is all about the groceries.
