Bass Fishing

Outdoor Trips

Uploaded on February 04, 2009

I was just sitting here pondering on this up-coming summer and the fishing that I will be doing. I have been planning a fishing/scouting/camping trip along the Mississippi River here in SW WI. and plan on taking that trip this year.

I cant wait to be out in the element all day and night doing what I love to do with a couple of buddies. I think thats the best way to go.

I was wondering what the rest of the F&S subscribers had to say. Have you ever took a camping trip like this? What was it like? I would love to hear some great stories, especially if it was on the Mississippi.

I have been on a trip similar to this. It was a not the Mississippi though. It is so fun just being out there with your buddies enjoying all that nature has to offer. Truly a great way to unwind it you ask me. Just sitting outside looking at the stars and telling funny stories around the camp fire is one of the most relaxing and fun things to do. I think at least. Have a good time. The only way that the trip could be a bad experience is if two guys get into it with each other. In my case it was politics. If you all agree one way or another, go ahead and talk about it, but if their are different opinions, it is sure to stir up some controversy.

It will be a trip to remember, I'm sure. Often guys want to make these type of trips an annual thing.

I also do a trip like this each summer. The trip is on the Maine/Canada border. Me and five other great friends have been going up for nine years. We all love being in the outdoors and this trip lasts for about a week each late spring. It is some of the best smallmouth fishing that exists combined with good friends/good food. I go hunting and fishing with the same guys all year round, but this is our big trip each year. We all hope this great tradition continues for many more years to come.

We are currently thinking about doing a camping/hunting trip in the fall. Hope it happens.

why are you waiting until summer? We had the kids out for a day trip in the mountains in december. Dress them warmly, have a bit of an agenda (we planned a survival day with fire building, compass work, etc.) and get out there now.

I am not acquainted with the Upper Miss, but I love trips like that. My favorite river for that is the Current River here in Missouri, right in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. It's basically a big spring creek, and the brown trout, rainbow trout smallmouth bass, and goggle-eye fishing is epic, and the scenery is amazing. Camping, fishing, floating trips are really the best kind of outdoor adventures in my opinion. I also agree with s-kfry that winter trips are a lot of fun.Of course it is not nearly so cold in the Ozarks as it is up in Wisconsin.
